Olga (15) #1

Olga (15)

Director: Elie Grappe
Starring: Anastasiia Budiashkina, Sabrina Rubtsova, Catarina Barloggio
Drama, Sport Ukraine / Switzerland 2021
1 hr 25 mins Subtitles

Set in Ukraine in 2014 Olga is a passionate teenage gymnast, (played by real-life Ukrainian gymnast Anastasiia Budiashkina), and her mother is a journalist in Kyiv investigating the corruption of the pro Russian presidency and at risk of serious physical threat. Olga leaves Ukraine to try out for the Swiss gymnast team as her deceased father was Swiss, but at home in Ukraine her friends
and her mother are caught up in the turmoil of protest. Although now almost unbearably poignant the portrayal of Olga’s courage and determination, the wonderful gymnastic displays, and the reminder of the recent history of Ukraine’s predicament make this film a must see.
