Spanish Evening 2: The Odd-Job Men / Seis Dias Corrientes (12A) #1

Spanish Evening 2: The Odd-Job Men / Seis Dias Corrientes (12A)

Director: Neus Ballus
Starring: Mohamed Mellali, Valero Escolar, Pep Sarra
Comedy Drama Spain 2021
1 hr 25 mins Subtitles

A delightful and tender comedy starring three real-life plumbers in their debut on screen: Mohamed, a Moroccan, is taken on probation by Valero and Pep, since Pep is retiring at the end of the week. Valero has it in for Mohamed, although this is only one aspect of the domestic and professional crises. With impressive characterisation, some of their performances are based on the three actors’ skill at improvisation, nurtured over two years by the director. The eccentric clients they meet are as odd as some of the jobs the odd-job men are engaged for. Set in Barcelona’s suburbs we are treated to a different take on the city.
