October Festival – What to Expect

The Purbeck Film Festival is back at full strength with over 80 films at venues stretching from Bridport to Boscombe (who both get honorary Purbeck status for the Festival).

This year is more eclectic than ever with Nordic black comedies (Wild Men, Cop Secret, Riders of Justice) rubbing shoulders with Hitchcock classics (Vertigo, North By Northwest), plucky English underdogs coming good (Mrs Harris Goes To Paris, The Phantom of the Open, The Last Bus), new versions of old classics (West Side Story, Little Women, The Railway Children Return) and, of course, the very latest arthouse cinema from around the world (Petite Maman, Everything Went Fine, Small Body, Hive, A Love Song). We also have a weekend themed around “Cinema About Cinema”, a curated look at films that celebrate the act of filmmaking itself.

Of course, we still have our celebrated Purbeck Film Festival Short Film Competition, our morning matinees of classics and our special Film and Food evenings but, after last year’s stripped down (but still highly successful) Festival, we are excited to be bursting back on the scene with one of our biggest ever line ups.
